Our role in the project
The Canadian Museum of Nature provides world-leading expertise in the molecular analyses of biodiversity in benthic algal communities. By including “hidden biodiversity” it facilitates significant depth of analyses which otherwise could not be achieved within FACE-IT. Thus, a sensitive indicator of biodiversity change is being provided. In this way the Canadian Museum of Nature will mainly contribute to the research on biodiversity changes but its results will have strong implications to the assessment of ecosystem function changes and, thus, also to the research on food provision and livelihoods.
