Our role in the project
The Norwegian Polar Institute represents one of the world-leading institutions conducting scientific research in the Polar regions of both hemispheres. The significant amount of world leading expertise in polar sciences is reflected by the prominent role and number of scientists from the Norwegian Polar Institute contributing to FACE-IT. The institute will be the main coordinator for the research conducted on biodiversity changes. As the Norwegian Polar Institute is the host of the Norwegian Polar Data Centre, it has a significant role in the analyses of the various drivers of change. Furthermore, it will also play a central role in the study of ecosystem function changes. In tight collaboration with the Norwegian Institute for Marine Research, the Norwegian Polar Institute will be coordinating the modelling approaches in FACE-IT.
